SHAKESPEARE DALLAS

DALLAS (March 22, 2012) – Shakespeare Dallas celebrates another candle on the cake for Shakespeare during the 2012 Shakespeare Spring Soirée. This year’s festivities, held at the Samuel Lynne Galleries on April 20 at 7 p.m., will incorporate more entertainment such as a live auction, jazz trio and casino games. And of course, no birthday party would be complete without complimentary libations and hors d’oeuvres fit for the king of the stage himself.

The evening will begin with a musical performance by the James Gilyard Trio and a blackjack table where guest can test their luck. The live auction, starting at 8:30, will allow party goers to bid on one or more “birthday gifts,” valued anywhere between $1,000 and $4,000. Those auction items include a set of elegant jewelry by Bachendorf’s; a trip for two to Monterey, Calif.; a trip for two to Vail, Colo., and a trip for two to Key West, Fla. All proceeds raised from the auction will benefit Shakespeare Dallas.

“While Shakespeare can’t be present at his 448th birthday party, there are plenty of people in North Texas ready to celebrate on his behalf,” said Raphael Parry, Executive and Artistic Director of Shakespeare Dallas. “If there’s one thing we’ve taken away from past events, it’s that the Shakespeare Dallas community is committed to celebrating Shakespeare’s legacy in a variety of ways, and this event is certainly a very fun way to honor one of history’s most prolific playwrights.”

Tickets to Shakespeare’s Spring Soirée can be purchased for $50 per person or $80 per couple. For more information, and to purchase tickets, visit: www.shakespearedallas.org/shakespeare’s-spring-soirée

About Shakespeare Dallas

Inspired by the egalitarian nature of the New York Shakespeare Festival, Robert “Bob” Glenn started The Shakespeare Festival of Dallas in 1971 as a free summer Shakespeare Festival. The company serves the community as one of North Texas’ most treasured cultural institutions and the area’s only producer of an education program focused on teaching Shakespeare. In 2005, the company revamped its operations and branded the organization “Shakespeare Dallas” to illustrate the company’s new direction of year-round, affordable and accessible programming. Shakespeare Dallas aspires to use the works of William Shakespeare as a catalyst for creating unparalleled artistic and educational programs that are meaningful and enriching for the community it serves throughout North Texas.
